Meet Our Sponsors

When we come together, we are unstoppable.

The American Medical Student Association invites you to the largest annual gathering of physicians-in-training in the world, this year in  Arlington, VA / Washington, DC: AMSA’s 59th Annual Convention, Win Back Our Profession.

We have the opportunity to come together as physicians-in-training to build a future that makes medical education affordable and humane, provides each family with a medical home, cultivates a provider workforce reflective of our patients, restores the integrity of the physician-patient relationship, and protects health care justice.  It’s time to make medicine ours again.

Focused on professionalism and our continuing development as physicians, AMSA’s 59th Annual Convention will feature more than a hundred programming sessions addressing clinical skills, career pathways, studying strategies, international study-abroad opportunities and how we can make the most of our medical education.  Of course, convention includes those cutting-edge sessions we don’t find in school, with topics that include health disparities; global AIDS; health policy and heath system reform; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender health; health equity; gender in medicine; pharmaceutical policy; and much more.

On Wednesday, March 11, AMSA will host a multi-disciplinary pre-conference symposium on patient safety and medical quality.  From the safety of our operating rooms and clinics, to educating our patients about their health and health care, to providing evidence-based screening and low cost-high impact interventions, this is a do not miss event. Plan to apply early! Also, if you want to start an international exchange chapter at your school, attending the International Exchange Leadership Summit on March 11 is a must! Learn more here.

Thursday will bring us to the streets of DC and into the halls of congress with our rally and lobby day. Convention will also feature a number of sessions about our careers, including test preparation, becoming a resident, and specialty choice topics.

Friday marks the opening of the House of Delegates, where chapter delegates debate and decide AMSA’s policies and priorities.

In addition to all else, convention is where we will elect next year’s national leaders—including our Board of Trustees, Board of Regional Directors, Premedical Regional Directors, Action Committee Coordinators, and other programming leadership.  If you have any questions about national leadership within AMSA—just ask!

Other opportunities include presenting a poster at our scientific poster session and participating in the medical school fair. You can also save on registration fees by serving on a House of Delegates committee. Remember to plan early and let us know if you need more information or have any questions.

Being a part of AMSA means you never have to feel alone. So, come to convention and experience the full breadth of what it means to be a member of the American Medical Student Association.
